Group & Private Swim Lessons

Swim School

Burkwood's swim school program has been redesigned, to fit the needs of our swimmers. We now offer two distinct programs: Little Fish for preschool age and Big Fish for school-age children. The preschool age program is for 3-4 year-old's only. The school age program is for 5-12 year-old's. There are three levels in the Little Fish program to help children feel comfortable and safe in the water, as well as start to learn the basic swimming skills. The Big Fish program features six levels that cover water safety, fundamental skills, and the four competitive strokes.

Swim School Information: Burkwood's group swim lessons are designed to meet the needs of a variety of ability levels. First and foremost, we want to teach children how to be comfortable in an aquatic environment, be safe in an aquatic environment, and develop a love for the water. For those who are interested in pursuing participation in competitive swimming, the upper-level classes focus on the development of all four of the competitive strokes. Classes are held during the week with afternoon and evening options while school is in session, and morning and afternoon options in the summer. We maintain a student-teacher ratio of no more than 4:1 for the Level 1 and Level 2 beginner classes and no more than 6:1 for the more advanced Level 3-6 classes.
